Get eligible

Step one: pick the right NCAA Eligibility Center account. Everyone should start with the free Profile Page in 9th grade; it converts to a paid account any time.

Qualify for an SAT/ACT fee waiver? The Eligibility Center fee can be waived too. Mark it during registration and have your counselor confirm it through the High School Portal.

Check your high school's NCAA-approved core course list before picking classes each year. Search your high school. Create a free Profile Page account in 9th or 10th grade. Register. DI/DIIUpgrade to your account from the table by the start of junior year. Fees are nonrefundable 30 days after the account is created, so register when you mean it. DI/DIIConfirm your counselor sends your transcript to the Eligibility Center after junior year. Check status in your Eligibility Center dashboard. DIComplete 10 core courses (7 in English/math/science) before senior year starts. DIMaintain a 2.3+ core GPA. DII2.2+. DIII: the higher your GPA, the bigger your merit aid. DI/DIIRequest final amateurism certification on or after April 1 of senior year (after Oct. 1 if you graduate early in winter) in your Eligibility Center account. DI/DIIHave your final transcript with proof of graduation sent after you graduate.

Talk to me about Track & Field recruiting advice or a possible warm intro to a coach. I highly recommend contacting college coaches directly rather than relying on a service to do it for you.

Keep it briefAvoid long emails. Don't mention practice PBs. If your marks aren't there yet for the program, acknowledge it briefly and say what you're doing to improve.

Follow upThey may not respond on the first go-around. That's okay. Follow up in a week or two.
